Video art “Loosener” by Karver Collective was featured in the West Projections Festival 2018, in West Footscray, Victoria.
This work depicts postmodern deconstruction as it questions the definition and functionality of the Body. This work intends to expose that the object of language and definition is irreducibly complex, and unstable, and primarily multivalent. This work applies deconstruction theory to the human body, where, devoid of explicit definition, the utility of the form is expanded to include heterodoxical actions. This video art responds directly to the theme non/FICTION as it fixates upon the hazy borders of communication, hermeneutics, and language as it questions set definitions and functionality, and re-imagines the utility of the Body.

Performance date: 10th and 11th August 2018
Performance location: Sims Supermarket, West Footscray, VIC.

The performance ‘ichnos’ was featured at Exploration: Leichhardt 2018 presented by Agar Dish  as part of the Site and Sound Arts: Performing Arts Program 2018 @ Leichhardt Town Hall, Leichhardt. The performance ‘ichnos’ explores the journey of a team working together to create order from chaos. The team of two are tethered symbolising the symbiotic and interconnected relationship of humanity. The formation of order from chaos decreases internal entropy, while increasing external entropy, and is analogous to surveying unknown terrain with the aim of forced intelligibility.

Performance Date: 29th April 2018.

Materials: confetti

pose-essing the past no

‘Pose-essing the Past (No.3 )’ (interactive performance) was featured in The Agar Dish (1st instalment) @ 107 Projects, Redfern. Within ‘Pose-essing the Past (No.3 )’ my intention was to further develop the concept of Plato’s Cave, as well as engage in discussion of how we view historical documentation as a 2-D silhouette of the 3-D reality which escapes us. I intended to evoke the significance of iterating the human pose, and the fascination we have with the human form.

Performance date was Thursday, 3rd March 2015.

synchMy video piece ‘SYNCH’ (video art collaboration with Auth Kash Karver) was featured in the Order/Disorder exhibition @ Verge Gallery, Darlington (https://disordersymposium.wordpress.com/exhibition/). Within ‘SYNCH’ the tension between constructing order from the disordered is visually articulated through simulated synchronisation. Attempts to control chaos and reproduce it as its own order regresses back to a chaotic disorder, illustrating that neither order, nor disorder could exist, even in definition, without the other. The video depicts twin faces struggling to mimic each other, varying in facials, action, pace, and view.  Order and disorder are engaged in a power play, fluidly moving back and forth between these binaries. Using the absurd, ‘SYNCH’ defies the expectations of the art space, and with light humour unilaterally engages in the grand theme of disorder as the chaos uncovers itself through the small defects and eventual disintegration in synchronicity.

Date of Exhibition: 5th – 12th November, 2014.
